Title: Earl Thompson
Post by: Flyfast1 on Fri, 08/16/13, 12:11 AM
I am saddened to report that Earl Thompson has passed away.  Earl was one of the founding members of our club, the Livermore Flying Electrons, and as some of you know, he was also the first U.S. Scale Masters Champion.  Several long-time members of U.S. Scale Masters have told me that Earl was indeed a master builder.  This was long before my time in the hobby, but I knew him has a gentleman both in and out of the hobby.  Earl is on the right in the attached pictures.

I am sorry to hear that Ed - I had known Earl for several years at contests etc, he was a real gentleman and yes he was a master builder.

Trying to re-upload the pictures.  They seem to attach without any errors, so I am not sure why they can't be viewed.

I had the privilege to know Earl, see his models and compete with him when I was getting started.  There was no more intense competitor and modeler than Earl.  I'm sorry to hear of his passing and give our sympathies to Dorothy and his family.

Ed- thank you for posting.
