On behalf of the USSMA staff we wish you our members and friends a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR
For the coming year of 2017 the USSMA CHAMPIONSHIP will be hosted by the Southern Indiana Flying Eagles
The date is September 13, 2017 through September 17, 2017 the club is located in Seymour In. the club site is on the Freeman Field Airport grounds.
They fly off of a runway on the west side of the airport its a North/South runway , their web site is www.siferc.com they have pictures of the flying area posted. At this time they are getting the runway ready, camping on site site, hotel/motels very near the site.
Will be posting more next year, on a different note I would like to bring attention to our vendors that stepped up at the 2016 Championship, ZAP/House of Balsa, Frank Tiano please show your support back to them. 2017 U.S. Scale Masters Calendar is now on sale!
This new calendar showcases a few highlights of the 2016 National Championships held in Davis,CA
I hope you enjoy it and for those who attended the Championships, I hope it brings back some great memories all year long.
There were so many great models competing this year and that made it very difficult to select only 12 for the calendar.
I made the selections based on a few criteria, outstanding craftsmanship, good light on the model, photo in focus and other technical standards, overall
a representative sampling of the variety of subjects modeled for scale competition, and of course, my personal favorites.

...and on a personal note:
A very big thank you to Brad Osborne for loaning me his camera and sponsoring me for 6 days for which otherwise this could not be possible.

I am back from the 2016 Championships and wanted to say that I had a great time.  The event was a lot of fun, and it was nice to spend time with modelers that I don't get to see very often.  Congratulations to the Grand Champion Chris Wolfe!  A special thanks to the Contest Director Jeff Lovitt, who also took 2nd place in Expert, and the host club the Woodland-Davis Aeromodelers.  The event was very well run.
