British Columbia Scale Classic Event Report                                                                         Roly Worsfold

The 11th annual British Columbia Scale Classic was hosted by the Vernon RC Aero Modellers on July 17 - 19, 2015. Scores from this event can be used at the N.W. Championships and used to determine those qualifying for the 2015 U.S. Scale Masters Championships.

This is an international event 28 registered event participants from Vancouver Island, Alberta, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. The event featured excellent weather, Friday night 'Hangar Party' and a Saturday night Barbeque Pot Luck Supper with good hospitality participant networking made for a fun event. "Special Mention that no less than 8 Wenatchee, WA 'Red Apple Flyers attended the event"

A special thanks to the 'Head Judge' Ron Beauchene for coordinating the judge's schedule over the months prior to the event. All judges were Scale Masters Certified through the N.W. Scale Aero-Modellers program.

'Scorekeepers' & 'data entry people' Debbie Hughes, Wilma Scheer and Dianne. Score Runner help from Dellas and Mary from Wenatchee, WA along with the 50/50 draw coordinator Barb LeWarne from Vernon.

The 'Air Boss' role was filled by Don Frank and Bernie Lutes who coordinated Take-offs and Landings by communicating with the Judges on each of the flight lines.

BBQ roast beef was cooked by Bob Hill from Kelowna and Lunch/Hangar party Burgers and Polish Sausages provided by the Vernon RC Aero-Modellers.

The event Flying featured near perfect weather, very little wind and copious amounts of Sun and Cloud. Off the South end of the runway 'Osprey' fishing in the pond had to make avoidance manoeuvres to stay out of the way low flying aircraft. They seemed to take it all in stride moving around to stay out of the way.

We had a good balance of participants in each of the classes; 6 Expert, 4 Team, 6 Advanced, 9 ProAm/Pro and 3 ProAM/Sportsman (beginner). One of our contestants - Kay Freeman was 11years old and did very well, (kept the others on their toes).

Event Directors Mike Allman and Roly Worsfold we thank the volunteers, Vernon RC Aero-Modellers, Judges and participants (all winners) who made the event successful.

Note: The event is hosted by the Vernon RC Aero-Modellers along with volunteers from no less than 7 clubs from the area surrounding Vernon.
