Hello Gunsmoke 2012,

I attended the event this last weekend and it was ran great... I am sorry the wind scared a few people off but it all worked out.

Special thanks to Austin Goodwin "CD", Mike Peck "AZ USSMA Area Director", Arizona Model Aviators club for hosting, 1/8 Air force, all of the workers that made the event run smooth and all of the supporting vendors that made the event outstanding!

Cheers,

Bernie Boland
USSMA Chairman

Seven weeks have past and still no results posted anywhere. :'(
Yes, I've looked at all those pretty pictures but, I just want to see who won what. I've been to the OEAF website as well each passing week and nothing. I've been to the Facebook pages also.....and nothing. I quess noone cares.

Timely contest results and dissemination of info is paramount to "Keeping the Dream Alive".....would you not agree?

This site is a ghost town. It's as dead as the Scale Masters itself. And you wonder why participation in regional events is wanning.

The Orginization needs to be 'pro-active' more than 're-active'.

I competed in my first regional at the Hemet qualifier in '07... ( Bill Hart CD ) and had a blast ! Been flying r/c since 1977 and never before had I had SO much fun flying models. I couldn't wait to tell my friends about the positive expierence it was. My enthusiasm was contagious and I convinced four of my friends to compete in the very next qualifier. Two of them still compete.

To this day, I do not get any email notices regarding anything. Not even an invite for the next qualifier in my area. Many people have buisy lives and just need a friendly reminder. So if you're not sending out mass-invites to all past attendies then people will loose interest. I see no advertising other than a small link on this site. There was more advertising in the eighties before this wonderfull tool the internet.
Sorry for the rant.

Hello Ken,

Sorry for the slow information on the events. The info after an event has always been in my eyes less than I thought there should be. As to Gunsmoke, I personally will look into it ASAP. Sorry for your disappointment in our system. I knew as the new Chairman this would be a hard area to improve on. I agree with you on the downward spin the Scale Masters has been in over the last 5+ years. Some of the spin is due to economy but not all. The old programs all need a facelift and new technology needs to be used to bring the USSMA up to speed in my eyes.

Please tell me what was the exciting part about the first contest you were at? This type of feedback will help me make Scale Masters a better place for all.

Best Regards,

Bernie Boland
USSMA Chairman

Sorry my fault.  I seriously thought I had posted them shortly after the event... I will get them up this week.

See-ya

Hi Bernie,
Thanks for your prompt response to my concerns!....a good start!

I do realize that you just took the helm last October and will give you a little time to get settled in. ;)

I wish this site was more inspiring and not just a community bulletin board. I would like to see it as a destination for not only the latest info on events and proposals to competition guides but a PLACE for members to hang out and share stories and their latest build projects. More like a true club house for 'like-minded' people. Afterall, it's the members and supporters that make it what it is and they should be made to feel that this site is theirs....not your's and Mitch's.

Imagine a place where a novice can go too see cool projects underway and read building tips and ideas from the likes of past winners :o
Regards and hopefull,
Ken.
