It is with great pleasure that I reintroduce our scale tailwheel units once again to the discerning scale modeler. Back in December of 1992 while babysitting the Boy Scout's Christmas tree sales team that my son was part of I sketched up some drawings of a Corsair tailwheel and began to construct one for my Bob Holman 76" wingspan Corsair built from Brian Taylor's .60 size plans that Bob enlarged. As it turned out the material used and the construction techniques used produced a very lightweight unit that turned out to be more than strong enough to survive the roughest of landings (and a few mishaps like a dead stick through the pear tree orchard!) unscathed (the tailwheel, that is). So I began to hand make these to offer through Bob Holman Plans then Byron Originals and finally Nick Ziroli plans. The orders came in faster than I could make them due to the hand cutting, drilling fitting etc so burnout was achieved and I shut it down in order to be able to go flying once again.  I have recently completed a CNC system that I built from plans offered by PDJ Inc.com and find that the parts it cuts actually fit the first time! With this manufacturing improvement we can once again offer the tailwheel units that many folks have been asking about for many years.

Products now in stock are the Corsair Tailwheel in 3 sizes, the Hellcat Tailwheel in the 96" wingspan Ziroli size and the 80" Zero for the Dave Platt size Zero. Any tailwheel can be made to custom sizes (add $25) so keep that in mind for your next project.

Our most recent addition is the AD Skyraider Tailwheel unit for the 100" Ziroli Skyraider. It features the scale fold-forward design, shock absorbing wheel truck with arrestor wire anti-foul feature and includes the wheel all painted and ready to drop in. This is a very rugged unit as it needs to be and is based on the design that JD produced many years ago before CNC was available. The unit sells for $149.95 and includes the mounting hardware and steering cables.

Coming designs are for the P-47, P-51 and Avenger in several sizes. Also, the Corsair center section wing folding set for the 76" and 93" wingspan Corsair is in the final design stages.  Let us know if you have one that you think would be good to add to our offerings.
