Hi Jerry,

You might contact Austin Goodwin or Mike Peck they might have a better incite on your question. The contest is on the city line of Mesa and Apache Junction.

Photos posted on RCU ( for now - until I join USSMA  :-[ ) of the three day qualifier in MESA,AZ.
Thanks to the members of the ONE-EIGHTH AIR FORCE & members of the host club, Arizona Model Aviators, this years event was fun and inspirational. Way over-inflated static scoring aside, ::) ... it still was great fun seeing the models and people. This was my first time attending Gunsmoke ( thanks to my sponsors Corey & Brad  ;) and the excitement and overall expierence will stay with me for many years to come.
We arrived Thursday evening about 3:30 and drove straight to the field to see if anyone was there. None of the contestants were there, but a couple club members were sport flying and talking about not being interested in competition flying at all! - oh well, it's not for everyone. :)
I was hoping to connect with some of the One-Eighth Air Force guys that I see each year at Hemet's qualifier for dinner or desert on Thursday but no luck. It would have been nice to hang with them before the big event. With all this social media, connecting after a long 7 hr drive shouldn't be too difficult. To see a familar / friendly face ( other than Corey and Brad's  ;D ) would have been nice.
I did have a terrific time nonetheless!
... I want to give Austin a personal thank you for accomadating my requests for pilot info and complete access to the flight-line for picture taking. He was VERY busy all weekend and still managed to place fourth in ADVANCED class with his trusty old PT-19. Good job flying AND running the whole mess! ;D
There were a few issues with the new score sheets and the static judging that we'll have to gently discuss ;D ....in another thread perhaps.

I took over 2,500 photos using a barrowed camera ( thanks Brad Osborne ) and I think I got coverage of everyone flying. A big thank you to Tom Wolf, Jay Steward, Ron Peterka, Bob Frey and Chris Spangenberg for allowing me to spend a little quality time with your models on the runway ... getting those glamour shots. Thank you guys! ;D
Ken.
ps; it's gonna take me awhile to edit the pics, so please have paitence. ;)

Mitch,

Thanks for getting me going on uploading my photo-coverage of Gunsmoke. :)

I'm a little slow at editing but I hope the wait is worth it ;D
.... much more later.

Just added the begining pics of the static judging portion and a few from when we arrived in Mesa Thursday evening. These are all high resolution for your viewing pleasure. I hope they open promtly for people with a slow connection.
Still have a couple thousand more to go! ;D ;D ;D
Ken.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks! ...and you probably don't really want to see the pilot's pasty-white foreheads ;D

I've been distracted away from editing lately ( eye strain & a full hardrive ) but have'nt forgot. I just added 66 highlight pics of Tom Wolf's Mosquito. Sometime this summer, a complete article will appear in RC Sport Flyer on Tom's Mossie using a few of my pics. I'll give everyone a heads up when it comes out. Should be good reading. ;)
Ken.
...more photos coming ....on Gunsmoke & Hemet too! ....annnd a few from the '07 Championships as well. :)
