I read the new qualifying criteria and think its a step in the right direction.  But I'm confused on one point.  The new rules say that if no one in expert achieves the minimum score of 175 then the old 33% rule is used.  What if only one person out of say 10 achieves a minimum score?  Is he the only person qualified,  or does the old 33% rule define the minimum number of people who can qualify?

Hi Dave - that is being discussed right now  - the wording was not clear on the intent.  At a MIMIMUIM 33% will be qualified.  If 2 out of 10 reach the minimum and are not already qualified, the 33% rule kicks in and the next 2 would qualify.  If 5 of 10 reach minimum then all 5 qualify.
Someone did a comparison to last year using the minimum score and in almost all cases at least one more would have qualified.
See you at the 49er!

Thanks Jeff.  That's what I thought was meant.  Hopefully the Competition Guide can be modified to make that clear.  It wouldn't take much of a rewrite.
